After the meeting Claudia had to leave. Her own pack was waiting on her and I was exhausted despite how little I had done.

Alaric came over, handing me two pills and a small glass of water. “For the pain,” he explained. “Your last dose will be wearing off.”

“Thanks.” I took the pills, gratefully. My throat was starting to throb again.

“All that talking must have hurt,” Alaric observed. I merely nodded in response before a deep yawn took over. Alaric looked at me indulgently. “Come on, let's go to the den, the others are all congregating there after being kicked out. I think Everett is wearing a hole in the carpet with his pacing.” He gently scooped me up before I could protest, not that I even had the energy to protest. Resting my head on his chest I inhaled deeply, letting the smell of smokey dark cherry fill my senses, lulling me to peace.

Bellamy and Everett were both already settled on a large corner couch when we entered the dark, cosy den. I hadn’t seen this room before, but den was definitely the right word. The walls were a dark navy, with two large corner couches made from buttery looking brown leather.

Alaric placed me between Everett and Bellamy. Bellamy grabbed a throw off the end of the couch, tossing it over my legs. Were these men just hoarding blankets? Again, not complaining. I love a good blanket, but they didn’t seem to be the fluffy blanket sort of men.

“How did it go when it was just you guys?” Bellamy asked.

“Okay,” I said. “Keeper Gregory seemed to really want me at his Haven. They’re going to let me stay here, but check on me regularly for the next few weeks as you heard.”

“That’s not too bad,” Everett agreed.

“Yeah, I’m sorry they’ll be coming here pretty often, I’m sure you could do without that.”

“It’ll be worth it,” Callan spoke from the doorway, a bowl of popcorn in hand. “We were in that meeting quite a while, so shall we just order some dinner?”

“I’ll order some Thai,” Bellamy said, pulling his phone out.

That sounded amazing.

“Alaric picked out some horror film.” Everett smiled.

“We can change the film, Sweet Girl,” Alaric said, looking over at me, concerned. He had removed his suit jacket and rolled up his shirt sleeves.

“I can handle it,” I told him.

“You smell different?” Everett frowned.

“Oh, I’m sorry, I probably need a shower.” I blushed, I was probably stinking the place up.

“You don’t smell bad, Honey. Just muted,” Callan said. “But it’s rude to comment on it,” he admonished, glaring at Everett.

“It’s just the suppressants working, trust me you smell fine. Let’s watch the movie.” He turned back to the screen and I settled into the couch, nibbling from the bowl of popcorn in Callan’s lap.

Without conscious thought, I found myself drifting towards Bellamy, lured in by that chocolate scent I wanted to bathe in. He didn’t skip a beat when I leaned into him, he just threw an arm around me and let me cuddle into his chest.
